Guidance for consular legalization appliactionProccssing

The civil and commercial documents issued by Austrian judicial institutions, government departments, companies, social organizations, civil organizations, notaries, etc., intends to be consular legalized by Chinese Embassy in Austria should follow the procedure below:

1、Legalization Procedure

Step 1 .

To have the document notarized by a local notary .

Step 2.

To have the document notarized by State Court.

Step 3.

To have the document notarized by the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Step 4.

Please submit the documents legalized by State Court and the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the visa center for consular legalization.

Step 5.

Before applicants come to visa center to submit documents, an appointment must be made on the visa center's website. If you want to make an appointment, please click here.

If the notarization needs to be translated, please contact a judicial translator for translation. In addition, the visa center only accepts the documents which is legalized by the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


2、Documents required for application

(1). One fully completed and signed Application Form of Consular Legalization of the Embassy/Consulate of the People’s Republic of China.

(2).The original and a photocopy of the document which have been authenticated by the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

(3).A photocopy of the applicant’s ID (passport, residence card ); For commercial affairs,ID(photocopy)of the company’s legal representative shall be provided.

(4).Please download and signed the 

3、Processing time and Schedule of Fees

During the epidemic, the processing time is about one week, and the specific collection date is confirmed by the visa center when you come to submit the documents. Postal service is currently not available. Please make an appointment on our website before you come to visa center for consular legalization applications. Applicants without an appointment will not be accepted.(Click here for appointment)

4、Important notes:

(1)The Chinese Embassy only confirms the authenticity of the official seals and signatures of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and should not be responsible for the content of the legalized documents.

(2)A legalized document shall not be altered or forged. Any legal liability caused by the applicant's forgery or alteration of the document shall be borne by the applicant.

(3)If two or more notarizations with the same content and different languages are combined and bound into a whole,each  languages need to be legalized separately,legalization application only for one of these languages will not be accepted.
